Abstract

This paper discusses the definitions and factors of identity formation and theories of national identity formation, which consists of several theories, as well as the factors of strengthening national identity and the obstacles to the formation of a common national identity in theory. The second part focuses on the common national identity of the Iraqi state from the establishment of the monarchy to its collapse, and reads and analyzes the process of building a common Iraqi identity contemporary with a focus on the issue of identity. In this period, ie the monarchy until the establishment of a republican system in Iraq, the position on the course of events and efforts to build a common national identity, as well as obstacles and problems that have been obstacles to the establishment of a common national identity.
