The Mitanni Journal for Humanities and Social Sciences, also known as Mitanni J., is a scholarly, biannual academic publication. The Journal is sponsored and financially supported by Erbil Polytechnic University, Kurdistan Regional Government, Iraq. Original research in all fields of the Humanities and Social Sciences is published in the Mitanni Journal for Humanities and Social Sciences.

This journal is an open-access publication, subject to peer review, and licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial No Derivatives License 4.0 (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). Readers do not need a subscription to gain immediate, worldwide, and barrier-free access to the full text of research articles published in the Mitanni Journal for Humanities and Social Sciences.

The Journal imposes an Article Processing Charge (APC) of 75,000 IQD for authors affiliated with Erbil Polytechnic University and 150,000 IQD for those not affiliated. The Mitanni J. adheres to the highest academic standards and follows the APA citation and referencing style.

The Journal accepts three categories of submissions: Research Articles, Review Articles, and Letters. By adopting an open-access policy, the Mitanni Journal for Humanities and Social Sciences ensures that published research receives the visibility and recognition it deserves. The combination of open access and continuous online publication guarantees timely dissemination of scholarly work, making it accessible to anyone, at any time, and from any location. Journal Sections

Articles: The articles section is dedicated to original research publications that showcase significant scientific progress. The articles should provide comprehensive investigations that highlight groundbreaking advancements, contributing to the understanding of a topic of significance in the domains of Humanities and Social Sciences. The conclusions of the Original Research Article should unequivocally be substantiated by the outcomes. Submissions should consist of a full-length essay, which should not exceed 6000 words and should include no more than 8 figures and 6 tables. The abstract accompanying the article should be no more than 200 words. Original Research Articles typically consist of a minimum of five sections:

  1. Abstract
  2. Introduction
  3. Materials and Methods
  4. Results

Review Articles offer a methodical analysis and evaluation of a certain study topic within the domains of Humanities and Social Sciences. Submissions for the review should not exceed 6,000 words and should include no more than 8 figures and 6 tables. The inclusion of a rigorous evaluation of the referenced works, elucidation of contradictions within the literature, and comprehensive analysis of the topic is vital. The conclusion should include a comprehensive analysis of the constraints of existing knowledge, identify potential avenues for future research, and emphasize the general significance of the topic within the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences. The Abstract must be limited to a maximum of 200 words. Reviews consist of four sections:

  1. Abstract
  2. Introduction
  3. Topics (with headings and subheadings)
  4. Conclusions and Outlook

Letters refer to original research pieces that present scientific advancements. The articles should provide comprehensive research that highlight groundbreaking advancements, contributing to the understanding of an issue of significance to the fields covered by the Journal. The conclusions of the Original Research Article must be unequivocally substantiated by the findings. These can be submitted as a Brief Communication, with a word limit of 2,500 words, a maximum of 3 figures, and 2 tables. The Abstract must be limited to a maximum of 150 words. The Original Research Letters consist of five sections:

Peer Review Policies

Prompt, high-quality scholarly work with regional and international implications is the mission of the Mitanni J. . All submissions undergo a thorough vetting process to maintain the journal’s quality and credibility.

The peer review process is defined by the following principles:

  • The journal uses a double-blind peer review system.
  • Simultaneous submissions of the same manuscript to different journals are not permitted.
  • Manuscripts outside the scope will not be considered.
  • Each paper is reviewed by at least two experts suggested by the editorial board.
  • Editors may seek additional reviews if necessary, and authors will be informed when further review is required.
  • Final publication decisions are made by the Editors-in-Chief, based on reviewers’ reports.
  • Authors of rejected papers are notified promptly.
  • All manuscripts are treated as confidential documents, and reviewers, editors, and associate editors are expected to respect this confidentiality.
  • Editors, associate editors, and reviewers must disclose conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from cases where impartiality is compromised.
  • Privileged information obtained through peer review must not be used for personal or competitive advantage.
  • Reviewer identities remain strictly confidential.

Publication Frequency

The Mitanni J. is published twice a year. Accepted articles are published online with DOI assignment immediately after the completion of peer review, while the print version is issued biannually:

Mitanni J. is published 2 times per year. Publication of accepted papers occurs prior to print publication. The Mitanni Journal for Humanities and Social Sciences is published online with the DOI as soon as the peer-review procedure is complete. The Mitanni J. is published in hard copy twice yearly, with the first issue containing accepted articles published between January and June and the second issue containing approved papers published between July and December. The journal's p-ISSN is xxxx-xxxx. Along with each approved online paper, a printed copy of the journal issue is published throughout each publishing period.
