تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى توقع مرتبة سلطة جواز سفر دولة كوردستان. بدأت فكرة الدراسة في يوليو 2017 ، وأصبحت موضوعًا مهمًا للغاية خاصةً عندما عقد الاستفتاء الأول على استقلال إقليم كردستان في 25 سبتمبر 2017. والسؤال الرئيسي هو هل ستتجاوز قوة جواز سفر دولة كوردستان في المستقبل القوة الحالية؟ قوة جواز السفر العراقي؟ ". استبيان منظم تم توزيعه على الأكاديمي الأجنبي الذي يعمل في المؤسسات الأكاديمية والجامعات في كردستان والذين زاروا المنطقة لأغراض أكاديمية وبحثية ودبلوماسية ، تم توزيع 115 استبيانًا عبر الإنترنت من خلال منتديات Google ، وتم الرد على 85 فقط بدقة. صنفت معظم الردود جواز سفر كردستان المستقبلي ضمن أفضل 75 جواز سفر من بين 200 جواز سفر لدول ومناطق وفقًا لمنهجية Henley and Partners وقياسات مؤشر جوازات السفر Nomad لأفضل جوازات السفر.
