The Impact of the Geopolitics Factor on the U.S. Foreign Policy Toward Egypt (2014-2021)

Geopolitics as a strong factor has influenced the U.S. foreign policy toward different parts of the world . Egypt is one of the countries that has geopolitically influenced the U.S foreign policy in North Africa and the Middle East. The importance of Egypt and its relations has become one of the strongest factors for the United States, so that it can protect its security and national interests in North Africa and the Middle East. Egypt is connected to the Red Sea, the Mediterranean Sea and the Suez Canal, and also, neighboring with the Israeli state which is the U.S. most important Strategic partner in the region. The United States believes that any threat to Israel threaten the American interests in the region. As a result, the peace accord between Israel and Egypt became the influential factor of the U.S./Egypt ties. Although Egypt has relations to both Russia and China, it has a long-standing relationship with the United States, particularly after 1979, and Egypt is being assisted financially and militarily by the United States, and it continues even after the Arab Spring. Moreover, Egypt cooperates and coordinates with U.S. and Israel in the War on Terror and the countering Hamas, particularly in the Sinai Peninsula. United States, considers Egypt as a factor of stability between Arab states and the Israel.
