The research aims to know the reality of operating risks in banks for a sample of commercial banks in the Kurdistan Region - Iraq (the three governorates Erbil, Duhok, Sulaymaniyah) using a questionnaire form for a sample that included (26) banks, and the number of respondents reached (77), and depending on the method of factor analysis to find out the extent of commitment of the region's banks to the requirements of Basel 2, and the presence of nine factors was reached and by 67.5% confirms the existence of a definition and determination of operating risks within the plan approved by the bank's Board of Directors, and a number of Among the proposals is the adoption of a capital account dedicated to financial (credit, liquidity, capital) and non-financial (especially operational risks), in order to enable the bank to face potential risks.
