Abstract

Abstract:

This research attempts to determine the position of the avant-garde today, in relations to its aims, and historical roots such as its individuals, groupings, networks and movements. Although all the avant-garde arts appear as a single path, each of them has its own contexts, genealogies, practices, aesthatic perspectives, politics, manifestos and programs.

It also concentrats on some crucial spots which open the gate to comprehend the theory of the avant-garde such as; First, the relations between the historical avant-garde and the new avant-garde. Second, avant-gardism as an anti artistic autonomy. Third, the appearance of the avant-garde today, and its obstacles under the power of the markets.

Regarding to the research methodology, the research requires analysing the true appearance of the avant-garde which is the authentic defender of culture. Furthermore, the tensions and paradox among the avant-garde movements theoretically and methodologically set into comparison.

In conclusion, the research formulates the concept of the avant-garde in a sense of socio-political directions, with the presence of aesthetic aspects.  This avant-gardism seeks to find a rupture and stands simultaneously against the ideological and capitalist authorities.
